The University of Arizona has joined together in partnership with Fraternity & Sorority Programs, the Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques Center (SALT), Campus Health, The Center for Student Involvement and Leadership, and the Dean of Students Office to develop an exceptional success program for our Greek students. New programs and services have been created to improve Greek students’ academic performance, leadership skills, health and wellness, reduce risk behaviors associated with alcohol and drug use and better prepare every student for their future workforce and educational endeavors. The UA’s new Greek community will build on its strong tradition of friendship and support while providing 21st Century student development and retention programming to ensure every student finds success at the UA and beyond.
Four years ago, the Student Life division chartered a task force to analyze the condition of the UA Greek Community and make substantive recommendations to the UA President’s Cabinet about how best to support student success within this community. After 14 months of assessment, the task force identified five major areas of opportunity to improve the performance of students involved in Greek Life. The five focus areas include academics, leadership, wellness, advisor development and diversity. Experts on campus were then called upon to help develop, design and implement new programming to address each area of opportunity. The Greek Life Campaign mission is to significantly improve student performance and success. This approach has already received national recognition from peer Universities and national Greek organizations.
