Greek Programs

Fraternity & Sorority Programs provide an excellent place to gain the experience and knowledge necessary to develop strong leadership skills. The Greek community at the UA is self-governing, giving student leaders the opportunity to shape policies and standards for their own organizations as well as the wider fraternity and sorority community. Serving as an officer or committee chair in a chapter, honorary, or governing council will help an individual develop a multitude of leadership skills, including but not limited to conflict management, delegation, decision making, and effective communication skills. Being a member of a fraternity or sorority provides a conduit for involvement in other areas of campus such as student government, clubs, organizations, and campus honoraries. Past Greeks hold some of the highest leadership positions and honors on campus, including student body president and Homecoming King and Queen. Nationally, our chapters provide opportunities for members to attend regional and national leadership training conferences.

Wildcats know that the best college experience has a balance of academic rigor, community involvement and social activities. Joining a fraternity or sorority will offer you the most extensive social network possible on the UA campus. Being Greek gives you the opportunity to meet new friends through participation in events like Greek Week, chapter philanthropies, and more. Our community prides itself on the ability to help fraternity men and sorority women develop socially and learn how to have fun in a safe environment through a variety of programs such as GAMMA (Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol), the Hunter White Health Advocacy Program, the Sorority Normative Messaging program, and BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students). Homecoming: Each year, thousands of University alumni return to their Alma Mater for homecoming festivities. Sororities and fraternities work together to build floats, host alumni events, and attend the football game to root for our Wildcats. This is an excellent opportunity to meet alumni from your chapter and find out how being Greek helped them in their life after college.

Advocates For National Greek Leadership and Education (ANGLE)

ANGLE is a peer education organization of fraternity and sorority members from The University of Arizona Greek community. ANGLE peer educators are trained through an academic course where they learn about presentation and facilitation skills, as well as questions facing today’s college students. These peer educators then present, facilitate, and educate fraternity and sorority members on these points through forums such as the New Member Symposium and GREAT Greek Weekend.

Great Greek Weekend

GREAT Greek Weekend is a leadership retreat for emerging leaders (typically freshmen and sophomores) that will prepare them for future challenges. This retreat combines team building and experiential learning with opportunities to interact with fraternity and sorority members from other chapters while examining local and national Greek topics and trends.

President & Advisor Summit

Each January, Fraternity & Sorority Programs and the four governing councils provide a half-day training session for all new officers and advisors. The training provides an overview of Fraternity & Sorority Programs and University policies, including hazing, while working specifically with each governing council.

New Member Symposium

Each semester, all new fraternity and sorority members attend a seminar on timely concerns facing fraternities and sororities. Past topics have included sexual assault, relationship violence, hazing, New Member rights, alcohol and wellness. The goal of this symposium is to prepare the newest members of our Greek community for their experience and to help them gain the most from their membership throughout their college career.

Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol (GAMMA)

The student party management policy arm of the member fraternities and sororities of IFC, NPHC, Panhellenic, and USFC. This organization upholds campus and University policies by working both with chapters and Risk Management to promote the safe and responsible use of alcohol at Greek functions. Members of GAMMA are responsible for helping chapters comply with regulations at social events. The group meets monthly to coordinate ongoing chapter education and social chair training.

Greek Week shouts, “It’s great to be Greek!”

The Greek community participates in fun activities and service events to show the University what it means to be Greek. Chapters form teams that promote fraternity and sorority unity and allow members from across campus to meet and bond. Greek Week is an exciting opportunity to raise funds for a local cause, enjoy teamwork, and show the campus community what being Greek is all about! Just a few of the activities are Penny Wars, Air Band, Greek Family Feud and Greek Olympics.
